The streaming service Netflix is discontinuing support for some Nintendo devices. According to Nintendo Customer Support, the Netflix app will no longer run on different versions of Nintendo 3DS and Wii U from June 30, 2021. Specifically, these gaming consoles are affected: New Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS XL, New Nintendo 2DS XL, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo 2DS, Wii U Deluxe and Wii U Basic.

Netflix removed its app from the Nintendo eShop on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS Family systems on December 31, 2020. Since then, the Netflix app has no longer been available to new users. Only those users who have already downloaded the Netflix app to their console and for whom the Netflix app is already connected to their Nintendo account can download the Netflix app again after December 31, 2020.

Those who have currently installed the app can still receive Netflix on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. But the clock is ticking: On June 30, 2021, the Netflix app cannot be used on any of the devices mentioned above.

For the current Nintendo Switch, however, the Netflix app is not available.
