Documentary media cultures

The volume analyzes documentary forms of film that play an increasingly important role in current media cultures and are largely responsible for communication in modern societies. New technologies and changed forms of production, distribution and reception as well as innovative aesthetic concepts lead to a differentiation of documentary practices in their respective media cultures, which not least change the understanding of what is to be understood by documentary films. These developments raise questions to which authors from media and cultural studies, history, art studies and sociology provide answers in this volume.
