How Much Does Google Glass Cost

Google Glass: Enterprise Edition 2 augmented reality glasses are sold direct

Google is now again offering its AR glasses for direct sale in the USA. Enterprise Edition 2 is available for purchase from multiple US resellers and costs between $ 1,000 and $ 1,100. So far, Google has only awarded Glass to partner companies that want to use Glass linked to a project. Theoretically, private users can now also buy Google glasses from resellers. However, Google Glass is primarily aimed at developers and companies.

Google originally targeted the end customer market with Glass, but the AR glasses introduced in 2012 flopped in this segment. Since then, Google has converted the smart glasses into a business device that can, for example, display instructions in the wearer's field of vision during repair work.

VW and DHL rely on glass

The first Enterprise Edition of Google Glass is said to have been used by large companies such as Volkswagen, DHL, Boeing and General Electric. In May 2019, Google then followed up with the Enterprise Edition 2, which is still the most current model today.

The Enterprise Edition 2 is based on Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR platform, the four cores of the chip clock with up to 1.7 GHz. The Enterprise Edition 2 camera has 8 megapixels, a little more than the previous version. The display of the Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2 has a resolution of 640 × 360 pixels, the 820 mAh battery of the glasses is charged via USB-C. Three built-in microphones and a loudspeaker enable communication via the glasses, and a loudspeaker is also built-in.

Enterprise Edition 2 runs on Android, so developers should be able to easily integrate their services and APIs. Google also offers open source code to help develop for Google Glass. (there)
