Who deserves the title of liberator

The bass is the basis - Henri Texier's band projects

The French bassist Henri Texier has a special feel for the global musical, open flow. At the center of his bands are the wind soloists, whom he carries and drives with his bass groove in an almost hypnotic way. "My music is simple, but it has to be inspired," he says. "It wouldn't work with musicians who have nothing to say." Texier therefore casts his bands as if he were casting a film. He looks for the right wind player for every role. His comrades-in-arms included Joe Lovano, Louis Sclavis, Michel Portal, Sébastien Texier and Francesco Bearzatti.
