USB-C connection: The most important information about the standard

USB-C has not yet fully established itself as the standard. This means that many devices are not yet prepared for connection. For example, if you want to connect a smartphone to your PC via a USB-C socket for data transfer, you may have to use an adapter. These are already available to buy, but they have restrictions. Because here any advantages in terms of loading and transmission speed are lost.

The same applies to cables that have a USB-C connector on one side and USB-A on the other. This is useful if you want to continue using your old smartphone charger, because then it still has a use. However, you will lose the advantages of the Quick Charge function described above, because this is not possible with an old charger.

The fast transfer rates of pure USB-C cables with adapter solutions are also not available; only slower speeds are possible here. Owners of a laptop or computer with connections for USB 3.0 transmission speeds should pay attention to the corresponding standard marking when buying a USB-C-to-USB-A cable. These are easily recognizable by the blue colored connector plugs.
