Why are you so positive 1

Positive thinking for more satisfaction | SOUL ♥ SISTER

Admittedly, the phrase "You have to think positively!" sometimes seems like a pesky phrase. Especially in situations in which you are anything but positive because the external circumstances do not allow it. The legitimate question could then be: "What's the point of thinking positively, if the situation is just the way it is - negative !?"

Dr. Ilona Bürgel is a qualified psychologist and works primarily as a speaker and consultant for companies. Your main topics roughly summarized: Developing trust in your own abilities, optimally using external and internal resources, giving and experiencing appreciation and exercising optimism.

That the power of positive thoughts can actually be decisive for success and failure - both for companies and for private individuals - makes Dr. Bürgel clearly: "It used to be thought that we were born optimistic or pessimistic thinkers and couldn't help being like that. Today we know that 50 percent of our talents determine how easy or difficult it is for us to be in a good mood and think positively. 10 percent determine the living conditions. 40 percent have control over what we make of our life and how comfortable we feel. " If you want to get as much out of this 40 percent as possible, practice thinking more positively with these 5 tips:

1. Think more consciously and control your thoughts

Often we feel as if we are helplessly exposed to our thoughts. As if negative thought patterns had so much power over us that we couldn't do anything against them. Not correct! Make yourself aware: it is your head and it is only thoughts! You can influence what's going on behind your forehead.

The best example: You enter a room full of strangers and you immediately feel uncomfortable. You have the feeling that everyone is staring at you, people are whispering about you - in short: you expect to attract negative attention from the outset. Stop! Realize that these are all ghosts that you yourself conjure up. Anyone who enters a room with the thought "I'm great and you can see that too!" not only feels more confident, but actually exudes it.

2. A good life and good thinking go hand in hand

Another tip from Dr. Bürgel: "With everything you do, ask yourself whether it is a good thing. Can your actions bring you or others something good? Is there a good intention behind it?" Incidentally, this applies not only to our actions, but also to our thinking .

3. Take your wellbeing into your own hands

"This is so extremely important because your good memories and feelings offset the negative effects on your body and mind," says Dr. Bürgel. This means that if you are currently experiencing something joyful or thinking something beautiful or bringing it into your consciousness, you can regenerate faster and are faster fit for new challenges. Incidentally, this effect has even been medically confirmed. There are reports of cases in which the sick recover much faster if they harbor positive thoughts - consciously as well as unconsciously.

4. Create a positive mood

A positive attitude makes it easier for us to perceive other positive things and often triggers a domino effect. You can easily test this point by smiling cheerfully at the people on the street. Is that still a number too hard for you? Then don't just mumble "Tomorrow" when you greet your colleagues in the office tomorrow morning, but give it a go with an exuberant "Have a wonderful good morning!" Bet that you will immediately put happy faces around you with it? This can create a positive cycle. The more people participate, the nicer and easier.

5. Appreciate everything you have

In order not to lose sight of gratitude, some coaches recommend keeping a gratitude diary in which you write down every evening what positive things happened to you during the day and what you want to thank from the bottom of your heart. If at some point the mood is in the basement and you are tempted to say that you are "always just unlucky", such a gratitude diary quickly helps to put everything into perspective.
