India is changing demographically. The proportion of the population aged under 35 is 60%. These include increasingly young, well-educated city dwellers who want to experience nature adventures, culinary highlights or an exciting nightlife in a trendy city during their holidays. The holiday destination Switzerland has so far been considered the dream destination in India, especially for family holidays, romantic holidays for two (honeymoon) and rail travel. With 33-year-old Bollywood star Ranveer Singh as brand ambassador, Switzerland Tourism ST has now undergone an image change in order to arouse the desire to travel even in a younger, urban target group.

Large fan base on social media

Ranveer Singh has already visited Switzerland twice. In July 2016, in Lucerne, Interlaken and Zurich, he experienced what outdoor activities Switzerland has to offer for young Indians. In February 2017, when he visited St. Moritz and Engelberg, Switzerland was the main winter destination. A media meeting also took place in Lucerne - including the daily newspaper “Blick” and Swiss television (French).
His large fan base on social media (a total of over 26 million followers on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter) was able to participate in his winter experiences thanks to regularly posted video and photo stories. As of June 2017, ST had generated over five billion media contacts in India alone.

For 2017, the Federal Statistical Office reported almost 739 200 hotel overnight stays by Indian guests. That is an increase of 23.4%, which is also due to the campaign with Ranveer Singh.
