New year, new order. In the first month of a new year, I always feel the urge to organize my life (even) better. Chaos can be extremely creative, but too much of it can also be a hindrance and frustration. For this reason, I keep dealing with the topic of self-organization and also enjoy writing about it. Of course there is always new knowledge here. For this reason I have added another tip to this blog post and would like to share it with you.
You also sometimes wonder how you can organize yourself better? Then it's time to clean up, rearrange and organize better. In the following, you will get the most important tips to quickly get the clutter in your life under control.
Tip 1: write everything down and make a plan!
Keeping all the important to-dos in mind is impossible. It lets you quickly lose track of things and forget important things. Writing down all the pending tasks takes the strain off your head, even if you have a good memory, and prevents any overload. Therefore: Make a list of all things that are pending. Arrange the to-dos in order of importance and delete the individual tasks as soon as they are done - you will enjoy this moment, I promise you!
If necessary, you can create several lists, for example for the day, the week and the month, and then subdivide them into priorities. You can use a wipeable memo board to do this. It is important not to undertake too much for the individual days so that the tasks at hand can be mastered.

Tip 2: automate what works.
All appointments that a tool can think of for me are automated. The shopping list is recorded by a shopping app. The calendar on my smartphone reminds me of the return date of the library books via a signal. And my children's monthly course fees are collected by direct debit.
This is how I make room in my head for other, more important things.
If you are part of a family, it is a good idea to synchronize the appointments on your smartphones. So you can see at a glance whether any member of the family is blocked for a certain day or not.
Tip 3: stick to your plan!
You can only organize yourself well if you stick to the plan and don't deviate from it. There are several ways you can stay tuned. For example, set a realistic time frame in which you can complete a task. Take this time and don't rush so you don't have to do it all over again later. Take a close look at things that keep dropping at the bottom of your list. Is it really important? If not, don't do it or pick a time to do it well in the future. Summarize similar to-dos! For example, do all online transfers at once or make all phone calls one after the other. This saves time and nerves
Tip 4: Saying no has to be learned!
Saying no is not easy, but it is essential in order not to suffer from a chronic lack of time in the future. That is also not selfish, but healthy! Everyone needs time for themselves and has to be able to do their to-dos in a realistic time frame. Transfer responsibility to others, be it in the office or in private life. A child is also happy to be able to help out and learns to take responsibility in the process. It's impossible to stay organized if you don't learn to delegate from time to time.

Tip 5: Organize yourself by making decisions. Now!
Keeping all options open until the last moment can quickly create disorganization and thus frustration. Try making small everyday decisions and you will find that making decisions early can affect many things. In any case, you will master your everyday life more confidently and more confidently, because organizing takes time and you have it if you make a quicker decision beforehand.
Tip 6: clean up and create new space in your life!
Is it difficult for you to part with things? Trust yourself, it can be incredibly liberating! Whether bedroom, kitchen, living room or office, things that you don't use often are thrown out. It's best to find out about thrift stores and charities beforehand that you can donate the intact items to. Then you also have a good feeling about it ... Things that I haven't used for a long time, but which I can't possibly part with, are going to the cellar for the time being. After about a year I do Tabularasa again there and by then at the latest they usually find their way into other hands. In any case, take your time for your mucking out action. For example, one drawer or one cupboard compartment is sufficient every day. Then you can cope better with the pain of separation. If a friend or family member has free time, you can also involve another person. Other people aren't as emotionally attached to things as you are.
Tip 7: reorganize your possessions!
As soon as you have separated from all expendable items, it is important to rearrange and sort the remaining items. Of course, some items require more planning than others and must also be tailored to your personal needs. In the following I will go into some areas as examples.
Certainly not everyone is so rigorous with the subject area Books um, like me - apart from my study and children's room, there are no more books that I have already read, i.e. the books concerned are passed on directly and should not find their way back to me. Of course, I can understand if you want to hold on to them, so I recommend organizing them as follows: sort novels, crime novels, psychological thrillers alphabetically by author. Cookbooks, illustrated books, travel guides, on the other hand, alphabetically by topic. dress is divided by me into autumn / winter and spring / summer. The clothes of the currently trendy season are ready to hand in the front row of the wardrobe, while the clothes that are not needed stay in the second row. For underwear and stockings I have got hold of the perfect interior for my wardrobe: drawers that are already divided into smaller compartments are available from almost all manufacturers.
cleaning supplies can be subdivided according to rooms and locations. Either by bathroom, bedroom, kitchen or by floor, window, other surfaces. Since I also use different textiles, I also organize my cleaning agents in separate boxes with all the equipment for the respective requirement. Spices should be visible and accessible. It is best to use cans or glasses of the same size. Since my spices are kept in a large drawer and must be recognizable from above, I just labeled all the lids.
The most important point is that you look carefully at how you use your everyday objects and think about how you can organize their storage in the most efficient way. It is also advantageous if you leave some space everywhere for new purchases so that you do not have to reorganize everything after you have gone shopping.
Don't rush anything, good (self-) organization takes time!
Take all the time you need to reorganize yourself! It doesn't do you any good if you overwhelm yourself and have too tight time frames to end up giving up in frustration.

If you don't live alone, don't expect your family and roommates to pull together with you right away. Still stick to your list and your good intentions, you will certainly not regret it!
